Retro Arcade
A classic maze chase with two hand-tuned mazes. Each of the four chasers hunts you differently, the side tunnel wraps you to the other edge, and the four glowing pellets turn the tables for a few seconds. Free in your browser, with swipe controls on phones.
Maze chases became a phenomenon in 1980 because the enemies were not just fast — they had personalities. Dot Dash borrows that idea with four chasers who each follow a different rule. Blaze (red) heads straight for you. Ambush (pink) aims for the spot four tiles ahead of where you are going, so turning toward it is a mistake. Flank (teal) uses Blaze's position to set a trap on the far side of you, and Shy (orange) charges when you are far away but retreats to its corner when you get close.
Once you know the rules you can play them. Never run in a straight line toward Ambush, use the loops in the maze to break line of sight, and remember that every chaser reverses direction when the hunt switches between scatter and chase, and whenever you eat a power pellet. The side tunnels are your friend: the chasers slow down inside them, and you do not.
Save at least one power pellet for the end of a dot-heavy corridor rather than eating them as you pass. A frightened chaser can be eaten for 200 points, and each one after it in the same pellet doubles the value up to 1,600. Fruit appears twice per stage for bonus points — grab it only when the route is clear. Stage two has a new maze, faster chasers, and a shorter pellet timer, so the strategy has to adapt.
Use the arrow keys or W, A, S and D, or swipe on the game screen on a touch device. Your character keeps moving in its current direction, and turns at the next junction once you pick one.
The four large flashing pellets make the chasers turn blue and slow down for a few seconds. While they are blue you can eat them for 200 points, doubling for each one eaten from the same pellet. Eaten chasers turn into eyes and race back to the pen.
The gaps in the left and right walls near the top of the maze wrap you to the opposite side. Chasers move slowly inside the tunnel, so it is a good escape route.
There are two stages, each with its own maze, and you have three lives. Stage two has faster chasers and a shorter power-pellet timer. Your best score is saved in your browser.
